Nutrition

Mealtimes at Caterpillar Kids are viewed as a time of connection - where we feed our bodies and feed our soul.

We promote and support an ongoing collaborative approach to children’s physical well-being and health within our centre community.  We encourage a healthy eating environment, which includes healthy food and beverage choices.  Developing and sustaining healthy eating behaviours in children is an integral part of the daily curriculum as it greatly enhances the educational outcomes. We provide children nutritious meals at appropriate times ensuring a high level of hygiene is maintained while preparing, serving and storing food.

Our centre is guided by a range of resources available to help ECE services make healthy and informed choices about food provided to children, and to encourage parents to do the same.

We provide all meals while your child is here and these are prepared by kitchen staff.

Our fortnightly Menu is seasonal - designed for the warmer summer and adapted for the cooler winter months.  We review this regularly with consultation from our wider centre whānau.

An ample supply of water that is fit to drink is available to children at all times, and older children are able to access this water independently.
